November 2023 - Remembering Jimmy Buffet, Diplomacy, and Setting Your Menu
The Jukebox - Quid pro Vino
Imagine what it must have been like for the founding fathers of the United States when they came to an issue that they forgot to include in the Constitution. It happened a lot in the early days. We often think about the country’s founders as a singular group, but they were in fact quite different from each other. Each man had a varied vision of what the new Republic should look like. As each man vied for his vision of America to become a reality, diplomacy would have to prevail many times to solve the difficult impasses that the first group of leaders ran into. The Buck Naked Truth: Patriots and Fathers
World War II produced many heroes. One such man was Lieutenant Commander Butch O'Hare. He was a fighter pilot assigned to the aircraft carrier Lexington in the South Pacific. One day his entire squadron was sent on a mission. After he was airborne, he looked at his fuel gauge and realized that someone had forgotten to top off his fuel tank. He would not have enough fuel to complete his mission and get back to his ship. His flight leader told him to return to the carrier. Reluctantly, he dropped out of formation and headed back to the fleet. As he was returning to the “Lady Lex”, he made sight of an entire squadron of Japanese bombers speeding toward the American fleet. The American fighters were gone on a sortie and the fleet was all but defenseless. He couldn't reach his squadron and bring them back in time to save the fleet. Nor could he warn the fleet of the approaching danger. Click here to download the full issue!

Shorty's Short Stories

For me, he knew what I needed to do in order to realize my own full potential. He convinced me to climb, and climb we did. Every landing we crest felt like the highest I had ever been. Yet upon conquering my fear as I reached the top, I looked up only to find another flight to overcome. 13 flights or so it seemed to the top. Upon arrival at the summit, there were 3 options; left, right, and center. You see these were the tallest water slides I had ever seen, and Uncle Squig insisted this was the test to prove your worth.
